Used as a fixative, in bacterial preservation media and in the isolation and cultivation of many organisms. BD™ Difco™ Glycerol is a highly purified alcohol that helps support the growth of a wide variety of microorganisms, including mycobacterial species and fastidious bacteria.

Glycerol is a viscous, highly purified, fermentable alcohol often used to supplement the base of culture media (e.g. Agar). Glycerol is mixed into the solution with the culture base to support the growth of a wide variety of microorganisms.
