Dihydroartemisinin (DHA) is a potent antimalarial agent that modulates cellular processes. It up-regulates cytosolic RelA/p65 protein levels while down-regulating nuclear RelA/p65, effectively blocking its nuclear translocation. DHA also induces autophagy and suppresses NF-kB activation in RPMI 8226 cells. Furthermore, it can enhance the anti-tumor effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT) on esophageal cancer cells.
