DLST is a recombinant human dihydrolipoamide succinyltransferase fragment expressed in Sf9 insect cells with an N-terminal His tag. It functions as part of the 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex, catalyzing conversion of 2-oxoglutarate to succinyl-CoA and CO2; the protein is mitochondrial and contributes to histone succinylation by supplying succinyl-CoA to succinyltransferases.
