DuP-697 is a highly selective and irreversible inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). (COX-2 IC50=10nM, COX-1 IC50=800nM). It is an orally effective anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agent which is not ulcerogenic. Inhibition of COX-2 by DuP-697 and other inhibitors exacerbates ischemia-induced myocardial dysfunction in the rabbit. It inhibits angiogenesis and induces apoptosis in human endothelial cells. Alternative name: (5-Bromo-2[4-fluorophenyl]-3-[4-methylsulfonyl-phenyl]thiophene). Purity: ≥98% (TLC). Solubility: Soluble in DMSO (10mg/ml) or 100% ethanol (5mg/ml). Long Term Storage: -20°C.
