Edvotek™ Advanced Placement Laboratory Kit 12: Dissolved Oxygen and Aquatic Primary Productivity
Experiment demonstrates the methodology used for measuring dissolved oxygen and determining the primary productivity of a natural body of water.
Manufacturer: Edvotek™ 292
DescriptionDissolved oxygen levels are used to monitor the health and productivity of aquatic ecosystems. In this kit, students familiarize themselves with the Winkler method by examining the relationship between temperature and dissolved oxygen concentrations. Using local water samples to examine primary productivity at different water depths, students can then observe the beginning stages of eutrophication.
Class size: 10 laboratory groups (40 students).
|Sodium iodide, sodium hydroxide, manganese sulfate, starch solution, sodium thiosulfate, nitrogen enrichment solution, phosphorous enrichment reagents, comprehensive instructions, background material and study questions|
