Description

Bacterial cells are transformed to express the green fluorescent protein (GFP)
Transformed cells are then grown and the GFP is purified by column chromatography
The purity of the protein fractions are analyzed by SDS polyacrylamide electrophoresis

Experiment times:

Module I: Transformation, 45 minutes
Module II: Isolation of GFP, 45 minutes
Module III: Purification of GFP by Chromatography, 45 minutes
Module IV: Analysis by GFP by Denaturing SDS Gel Electrophoresis, one hour
