- In this experiment, plasmid DNA is mapped after the electrophoresis of plasmid DNA fragments in parallel with standard DNA markers
- Teach students that DNA mapping is a common procedure used to determine the location of genes
- Also show that genes can be excised if students know the location of specific restriction sites within DNA
