EE Broth (Mossel), also known as Enterobacteriaceae Enrichment Broth, is a selective enrichment medium used for the detection and recovery of Enterobacteriaceae from food, water, pharmaceutical, and environmental samples. Developed according to Mossel’s formulation, the medium promotes the growth of sub lethally injured Enterobacteriaceae while suppressing many competing microorganisms. The formulation contains glucose, bile salts, brilliant green dye, and phosphate buffers that create a selective environment favoring the recovery of Enterobacteriaceae while inhibiting Gram positive bacteria and many non target Gram negative organisms. This broth is commonly used as a pre enrichment step prior to selective plating or biochemical confirmation tests. Supplied in ready to use bottles, it supports high volume testing and routine microbiological quality control procedures.
