Egg Yolk Tel Emulsion is a sterile, stabilized potassium tellurite emulsion of egg yolk used to identify Staphylococcus species on selective media. Each 100 ml vial blends egg yolk, sterile saline and potassium tellurite. Once warmed to a uniform emulsion and added to molten base medium, it reveals lecithinase and lipase reactions and tellurite reduction that help differentiate staphylococci, including coagulase-positive strains. A ready-to-add enrichment for clinical and food microbiology. Store at 2 to 8 C. Packaged as 5 vials (100 ml per vial).
