Invitrogen™ Calcium (Ca) Colorimetric Assay Kit
Description
The Calcium Colorimetric Assay Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of calcium content in various sample types. Calcium is an important multifunctional signaling molecule required for biological functions such as muscle contraction, nerve conduction, and blood regulation. Calcium-mediated signal transduction is the basis of many basic processes of mammalian development and reproduction.
In this assay, calcium ions in samples bind to Methyl Thymol Blue (MTB) in an alkaline solution and form a blue complex. The blue complex has a specific absorption peak at 610 nm, and calcium content can be calculated by measuring the OD.
Key features
• Simple and fast protocol—user-friendly, requiring minimal hands-on time and providing rapid results within a short incubation period
• Broad range of kits—across key analytes and targets within the most important metabolic pathways
• Consistent—strict quality control criteria to ensure reproducible and reliable results
