Description

Elastic Stain kit is used for histologic staining of elastin in tissue sections.

Elastin is protein occurring either as branching fibers or sheets. It is highly refractive, elastic and usually thinner than collagen fibers. Demonstration of elastic tissue is useful in various vascular diseases such as emphysema (atrophy of elastic tissue) and arteriosclerosis (thinning and loss of elastic fibers).
