The Ethos Biosciences DTNB (Ellman s) Thiol Oxidative Stress Assay Kit is designed to measure free thiol groups that arise due to oxidative stress which is an underlying component of acute and chronic kidney disease Our kit uses Ellman s Reagent otherwise known as DTNB or 5-5 -dithiobis [2-nitrobenzoic acid] which reacts with the disulfide bond in a sample to produce 2-nitro-5-thiobenzoic acid Under conditions of oxidative stress free thiols decrease and disulfides increase Determination of the free thiol concentration reflects the ability to detoxify lipid (and other) peroxides Aliquots of standard or sample are reacted with rehydrated Ellman s reagent (DTNB) in microtiter wells Our DTNB (Ellman s) Thiol Oxidative Stress Assay kit contains all of the components and reagents you need to conduct a 96 well plate chemical assay for thiol groups of any species in up to 40 duplicate urine or cell free liquid samples (plasma serum cell culture supernatant etc )
