Differentiates Cryptosporidium oocysts from yeast cells. Specimens may be prepared from fresh material or preserved in 10% buffered formalin. For use with Cryptosporidium Stain Kit (Modified Kinyoun method).

  • Fresh specimens should be fixed in methanol and formalized specimens with heat
  • Ideal for differential staining of bacteria
  • Yeast cells will appear green to blue-purple
  • Decolorization and counterstaining times may vary according to thickness of specimen
  • Cryptosporidium oocysts will appear light pink to deep red
  • Utilizes the Modified Kinyoun Method, which aids in differentiating Crytosporidium oocysts from yeast cells
