Alkali Scientific Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB) Agar, 15x100mm, 10/pk

Supplier: Alkali Scientific EMBP00
Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB) Agar, 15×100mm plates supplied in packs of 10, is a selective and differential microbiological medium used for the isolation and identification of Gram negative enteric bacteria, particularly coliform organisms. The formulation contains eosin Y and methylene blue dyes that inhibit the growth of Gram positive bacteria while acting as indicators for lactose fermentation. Lactose fermenting organisms such as Escherichia coli produce acid that precipitates the dyes, forming colonies with a characteristic metallic green sheen. Other lactose fermenters appear pink to purple, while non fermenting organisms such as Salmonella or Shigella remain colorless or transparent. Each plate contains sterile agar prepared to a consistent depth to ensure reliable performance in clinical, food safety, water testing, and environmental microbiology laboratories.
