Scigen™ Eosin-Y is an alcoholic eosin that allows for exceptional differentiation and contrast between cytoplas-mic components and nuclei. Scigen™ Eosin-Y stains cytoplasm three shades of pink and red. Prior to staining in Eosin-Y tissue slides should be rinsed in alcohol. The concentration of the alcohol rinse can range from 70% to 95%.

Staining time in Scigen™ Eosin Y depends on the use and personal preference; the following are guidelines that help establish a custom protocol for your specific needs. When staining routine hematoxylin and eosin sections, good results can be obtained with Phantom Eosin Y with a staining time of 0.5 to 1.5 minutes. A staining time of 0.5 minutes is recommended as an initial staining time, with an increase of 0.5 minute intervals until desired color and density of the cytoplasm staining is achieved.
