Inhibit DNA methyltransferases (Lee et al. Mol Pharmacol, 2005) and the formation of oxidized low-density lipoproteins (Yoshida et al. Biochem Pharmacol, 1999) with (-)-Epigallocatechin Gallate. This polyphenol catechin antioxidant inhibits bone resorption by inducing cell death of osteoclast-like multinucleated cells (Nakagawa et al. Biochem Biophys Res Commun, 2002); inhibits growth and induces apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cells in mouse xenograft model (Shankar et al. Front Biosci, 2008, Du et al. Nutrients, 2012); and causes cell cycle deregulation and apoptosis in human epidermoid cancer cell line, possibly via inhibition of NF-κB (Ahmad et al. Arch Biochem Biophys, 2000).
