Estrogen receptor modulator 1 (compound 18) is an orally active and selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), with a pIC50 of 0.46. It induces regression of Tamoxifen-resistant, hormone-independent xenograft tumors.

• Activation of estrogen response element in HeLa cells stably transfected with human Estrogen receptor beta (EC50: 17 nM).
• Activation of estrogen response element in HeLa cells stably transfected with human Estrogen receptor alpha (EC50: 50 nM).
• Agonist activity in transcriptional activation assay in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells expressing Estrogen receptor beta (EC50: 10 nM).
• Inhibits colony formation at 100 nM for 10 days.
• Significantly inhibits growth of cells and induces apoptosis at 100 nM for 9 days.
• Induces regression of T47D:A18/PKCα tumors in vivo at 1.5 mg/animal daily for 2 weeks.
