It acts as a click chemistry reagent, featuring an azide group for copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with alkyne-containing molecules. It also facilitates strain-promoted alkyne-azide cycloaddition (SPAAC) reactions with molecules containing DBCO or BCN groups. PROTACs employ two ligands linked by a linker-one for an E3 ubiquitin ligase and another for the target protein-to selectively degrade target proteins via the intracellular ubiquitin-proteasome system.
