Spectrum™ Chemical Ethyl Acetate, Reagent, ACS , is a colorless liquid that smells like pear drops. Abbreviated as EA, it can be found in glues, nail polish removers, cigarettes and other products. Primarily used as a diluent because of its low cost and toxicity, it is also used in laboratory settings for column chromatography and extractions. Prone to hydrolysis and transesterification, it is rarely used as a solvent. As an ACS grade Reagent, Spectrum Chemical manufactured Ethyl Acetate is used as the quality standard against which other substances are graded and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness.
