Immunosuppressant that blocks T cell proliferation in vitro by inhibiting the generation of several lymphokines, especially IL-2. Shown to inhibit the activity of FK506 binding protein and to inhibit the Ca2+-dependent phosphatase and protein phosphatase 2B (PP2B; calcineurin). Activates NF-κB through phosphorylation and degradation of IκBα. Alternative name: Tacrolimus. Purity: ≥98% (HPLC). Solubility: Soluble in DMSO, 100% ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate or acetone; insoluble in water. Long Term Storage: -20°C.
