Fluid Thioglycollate Medium is the standard broth for sterility testing of biologicals and for cultivating anaerobes, aerobes and microaerophiles from pharmaceutical and clinical samples. Sodium thioglycollate and L-cystine lower the redox potential to support anaerobes, while a small amount of agar limits oxygen diffusion and resazurin signals the aerobic zone as a pink band. Tryptone, yeast extract, dextrose and sodium chloride provide rich nutrition, final pH 7.1. It is widely used in USP and EP sterility test workflows. Dehydrated powder, store in a cool dry place. Packaged as 500 g.
