Description

Demonstrates acoustical resonance, audible beats, and sympathetic vibration. Two heavy, chrome-plated steel, 256Hz tuning forks, a rubber mallet, two resonance boxes (30 x 12 x 27cm), and two slider masses.

  • Slider masses cause frequency of the tuning fork to decrease by approximately 8% when positioned on uppermost part of fork
  • Changing position of the boxes and slider masses allow different frequencies and beats to be heard
