Use granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) to induce the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells and the generation of neutrophils, eosinophils, and macrophages (Barreda et al. Dev Comp Immunol, 2004). GM-CSF can stimulate the development of DCs that ingest, process, and present antigens to the immune system (Francisco-Cruz et al. Med Oncol, 2014). It is produced by multiple cell types, including macrophages, dendritic cells, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts. Together with other cytokines, GM-CSF also stimulates erythroid and megakaryocyte progenitor cells (Barreda et al.). Recombinant rat GM-CSF is reactive with mouse cells (Oaks et al. J Interferon Cytokine Res, 1995). Rat recombinant GM-CSF from STEMCELL comes lyophilized with ≥ 95% purity; EC50 ≤ 20 pg/mL; endotoxin levels verified ≤ 0.2 EU/μg protein.
