Can combine with cat# QZBFBY18-4 to make an ELISA specific for intact fibrinogen forms (HMW and LMW). SUMMARY: Fibrin functions in hemostasis as a primary component of blood clots. It is also important in the early stages of wound repair. Fibrinolysis is the enzymatic breakdown of fibrin in blood clots and results in various Fibrin Degradation Products (FDP). High levels of FDP in plasma indicate abnormal fibrinolytic and/or fibrinogenolytic activity. Elevated FDP levels are typical in disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), but are also seen in other clinical conditions, such as eclampsia, carcinoma (promyelocytic leukemia), cardiac and renal disorders, hepatic disorders, fibrinolysis, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), following surgery or trauma, and after lytic therapy.
