Hexamethylene bisacetamide (HMBA) activates hexamethylene bisacetamide-inducible protein 1 (HEXIM1), inhibiting transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb), a regulator of RNA polymerase II and mRNA synthesis. HMBA exhibits anticancer activity and is used to induce cellular differentiation and apoptosis in cancer cells. HMBA also inhibits activation of NF-κB, Akt, and ERK. CAS: 3073-59-4.
