Hexane-1,6-diol is a 6-carbon straight-chain diol with hydroxyl groups at both ends. It can be used as an additive for drilling fluids and as a substrate in life science-related research. Its monoesters and diesters have been used as substrates for in vitro digestion studies by pancreatic lipase, undergoing hydrolysis and transesterification decomposition pathways.
