This is a frozen liquid buffered in 50 mM Tris/ 100 mM NaCl/ 1 mM EDTA/ 10 u/mL aprotinin/ 20% glycerol/ pH 7.5, and a purity of greater than 94% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis. Also known as Fibrin Stablilizing Factor, Factor XIII is an enzyme that crosslinks Fibrin. Factor XIII is activated to XIIIa by Thrombin. Once activated, FXIIIa catalyzes covalent bonds between fibrin moledules, forming a stable and elastic insoluble clot.
