House Dust Mite Extract, from D.farinae, is an allergen extract derived from Dermatophagoides farinae. It significantly increases cytokine levels (IL-4, IL-5, IL-6) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, upregulates MUC5AC overexpression, and induces allergic asthma and pulmonary inflammation. In vivo studies demonstrate that it induces robust allergic asthma pathology, including airway hyperresponsiveness, inflammatory cell infiltration, Th2 cytokine production, immunoglobulin elevation, peribronchial fibrosis, mucus hypersecretion, and MUC5AC overexpression.
