Mouse MAb against human fibrin(ogen) degradation products (cross reacts with rabbit). IgG1, only reactive with plasmin-generated degradation products of fibrin and fibrinogen; not reactive with intact fibrinogen and fibrin. Combine with cat# QZBFBDD13 to make a specific fibrin degradation product ELISA; or cat# QZBFBY18-4 to make a specific fibrinogen degradation product ELISA. Synonyms: Fibrin(ogen) Split Products, FSP. SUMMARY: Fibrin functions in hemostasis as a primary component of blood clots. It is also important in early stages of wound repair. Enzymatic breakdown of fibrin in blood clots (fibrinolysis) results in various Fibrin Degradation Products (FDP). High plasma FDP levels indicate abnormal fibrinolytic and/or fibrinogenolytic activity. High FDP levels are seen in disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), but also in numerous other clinical conditions.
