Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) Human, E. coli Recombinant Protein is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 98 amino acids (20-96) and has a 11.8 kDa molecular mass. The MGP is fused to a 20 a.a. His-Tag at N-terminus. APPLICATION NOTES: A study by Nishimoto S. K. & Nishimoto M. concluded "cells attach and spread better on fibronectin and MGP coated surfaces than to fibronectin alone, even though MGP itself has no cell attachment activity." PURITY: Greater than 90%. FORMULATION: Sterile-filtered MGP solution (1 mg/ml) contains 20mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0) and 10% glycerol. SUMMARY: MGP has a high affinity binding to calcium ions. MGP acts as an inhibitor of vascular mineralization and plays a role in bone organization. MGP is vital for the regulation of calcification in the extracellular matrix, particularly in cartilage and arteries. OTHER NAMES: Cell growth-inhibiting gene 36 protein, GIG36, MGLAP, NTI.
