NT-3 is a member of the nerve growth factor (NGF) family of proteins that includes neuron growth factor (NGF) brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin-4/5. NT-3 signals a number of trophic effects through its transducing receptor tyrosine kinase TrkC and is known to promote the survival development and differentiation of neurons (Chalazonitis.
