ELISA

Human P1NP ELISA Kit quantifies P1NP in serum and plasma. The Human P1NP solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the binding of the second (detector) antibody to the target on a different epitope from the capture antibody. An antibody conjugated with enzyme binds the formed sandwich. After incubation and washing steps to rid the microplate of unbound substances. Rigorous validation: Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. Procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide (P1NP) is a specific marker of bone formation, reflecting the synthesis of type I collagen, which constitutes the major part of the bone matrix. P1NP is derived during the conversion of procollagen to collagen, produced by osteoblasts during bone formation. Its primary clinical application lies in the diagnosis and monitoring of metabolic bone diseases, particularly osteoporosis. In osteoporotic patients, P1NP levels can predict bone mineral density (BMD) responses to treatments like teriparatide and romosozumab. Low serum levels of P1NP are indicative of a high risk of BMD loss, providing a valuable tool for premenopausal women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and other conditions affecting bone health.
