Use interleukin 3 (IL-3) to promote the survival and proliferation of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells and lineage-committed progenitor cells and their differentiation into mature cells of most lineages (Broughton et al. Immunol Rev, 2012). Produced by activated T cells, IL-3 is a species-specific pleiotropic cytokine that has a physiological role in inflammation and allergies by promoting the secretion of inflammatory mediators. When IL-3 binds to heterodimeric receptors containing the alpha subunit and one of either beta subunits, it activates JAK/STAT, MAPK, and PI3K signaling pathways (Scott & Begley. Int J Biochem Cell Biol, 1999). Human recombinant IL-3 from STEMCELL is animal component-free and comes lyophilized with ≥ 95% purity; EC50 ≤ 2 ng/mL; endotoxin levels verified ≤ 1 EU/μg protein.
