SUMMARY: sIgA is comprised of two IgA molecules, a J-protein, and a secretory component. It is also produced by the saliva, tear and mammary glands. sIgA determination allows a first overview of the functionality of the gastrointestinal associated immune system (GALT), giving insight to the secretory power and the degree of stimulation of plasma cells of the intestinal submucosa. sIgA quantification is useful to research allergic disease, infection susceptibility, gut inflammation, autoimmune diseases, etc. Manufactured by Immuchrom GmbH, Germany.
