Alkali Scientific Inhibitory Mold Agar 30mL Plate, 10/Pk
SDP

Catalog No. 5000661919
Encompass_Preferred

Inhibitory Mold Agar (IMA) is an enriched selective medium used for the isolation and cultivation of pathogenic fungi including dermatophytes, yeasts, and dimorphic fungi. Each plate contains approximately 30mL of agar formulated with nutrients, inorganic salts, and growth factors that support fungal development. The medium contains chloramphenicol, a broad spectrum antibiotic that suppresses the growth of contaminating Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria commonly present in clinical specimens. Unlike some fungal media that include cycloheximide, this formulation allows growth of a broader range of fungi, including species that are sensitive to stronger inhibitors. The deep fill plate format helps maintain moisture and supports extended incubation periods required for slow growing molds and dermatophytes in clinical and environmental microbiology laboratories.
