Material for five demonstrations: 25mL Iron (III) Chloride, 0.1 solution UN 2582 (3); 30mL Potassium Thiocyanate, 0.1M solution; 30mL Potassium Ferrocyanide, 0.1M solution; and instructions

Demonstrate the principles of a redox reaction.

  • Paint potassium thiocyanate and potassium ferrocyanide solutions onto filter paper
  • Once dry, spray with iron (II) chloride Watch blue and red colors appear
