These C41(DE3)pLysS Chemically Competent Cells are engineered for routine recombinant protein expression driven by an IPTG-inducible T7 promoter. Derived from BL21(DE3), this strain is designed to prevent cell death associated with toxic protein expression, making it highly effective for expressing toxic proteins from various organisms. The C41(DE3)pLysS strain also includes a chloramphenicol-resistant plasmid encoding T7 lysozyme, which suppresses basal T7 RNA polymerase expression before induction, stabilizing recombinants of toxic proteins. Its efficacy has been validated in over 400 publications.
