Description

Investigate the transfer of heat between hot and cold liquids. The GSC Energy Transfer Demonstration allows students to observe heat being transferred through an aluminum bar between two calorimeters by measuring the temperatures over time in each.

  • Investigate the transfer of heat between hot and cold liquids
  • The heat will flow through a heavy aluminum bar dipping into each of those two liquids
  • The liquids will be contained in insulated containers, calorimeters, so that temperature changes you observe will be almost entirely due to heat moving through the aluminum bar
  • The cup on the right will contain water and the cup on the left can contain a variety of liquids including salt water and alcohol
  • The kit includes two insulated cups, two thermometers, an aluminum heat transfer bar and instructions
