Self-organized nanoporous iron(III) oxide (haematite) has been prepared. Orientation effects on nearly opaque single crystals of iron(III) oxide have been investigated by laser Raman spectroscopy.Iron(III) oxide may be used in the preparation of iron(III) oxide-hydrate gels.
