Jatrorrhizine hydroxide is an alkaloid isolated from *Coptis chinensis* with neuroprotective, antimicrobial, antiplasmodial, and antioxidant activities. Jatrorrhizine hydroxide reduces the uptake of serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) through the inhibition of uptake-2 transporters.
