Katacalcin TFA (PDN 21 TFA) is a potent plasma calcium-lowering peptide from the calcitonin family. It induces a rapid, short-lived decrease in blood calcium and phosphate by promoting bone incorporation. This peptide, encoded by the calc-1 gene alongside calcitonin and procalcitonin NH2-terminal cleavage peptide, effectively inhibits fMLP-induced chemotaxis and deactivates CD14+ peripheral blood mononuclear cell chemotaxis toward various attractants.
- Potent plasma calcium-lowering peptide
- Belongs to the calcitonin family
- Decreases blood calcium and phosphate levels
- Promotes incorporation into bones
- Inhibits fMLP-induced chemotaxis
- Deactivates CD14+ peripheral blood mononuclear cell chemotaxis
- Regulates CD14+ PBMC migration via protein kinase A-dependent cAMP pathways
