LB Broth supplemented with 0.4 % Maltose and Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO₄) is a specialized transduction ready medium designed for propagation of Lambda bacteriophage and improved phage infection efficiency. Each sterile 500 mL bottle contains Lysogeny Broth pre supplemented with these additives, eliminating post autoclave preparation. Maltose acts as an inducer of the lamB gene in E. coli, increasing expression of LamB outer membrane proteins that serve as receptors for Lambda phage attachment. This significantly improves infection rates. Magnesium sulfate provides essential divalent cations that stabilize phage particles and facilitate adsorption of the virus to host cells. The formulation is ideal for bacteriophage research, phage transduction experiments, and laboratories studying bacteriophage host interactions.
