Lewis Y tetrasaccharide (Lewis Y, LeY) is a tetrasaccharide derivative of Lewis X trisaccharide. It is an antigen associated with malignant ovarian carcinoma metastasis and poor prognosis. In vitro studies indicate its role in activating the FAK signaling pathway and upregulating Bcl-2/Bcl-XL expression, thereby enhancing cell adhesion-mediated drug resistance (CAM-DR) in ovarian cancer cells. It also leads to an increase in integrin α5β1 levels in ovarian carcinoma-derived cells that exhibit enhanced expression of LeY.
- Enhances the adhesive and spreading potentials of ovarian carcinoma RMG-1 cells, mediated by integrin-fibronectin interaction.
- Anti-LeY antibodies significantly inhibit the proliferation and adhesion ability of RMG-1-hFUT cells cultured in vivo.
