Cyanine Dye 5 (Cy5) has a strong absorption peak at 643nm and a secondary absorption peak at 605nm. The maximum emission peak is at 667nm, with an excitation coefficient of 2.5 x10&superscript_begin;5&superscript_end;cm&superscript_begin;-1&superscript_end;M&superscript_begin;-1&superscript_end;. Cy5 can be used as an alternative to AlexaFluor 647, and the phycobiliprotein Allophycocyanin.
