CellPro™ Lipid Depleted Fetal Bovine Serum is produced using a fumed silica precipitation process to selectively remove lipids from serum while preserving essential growth factors required for cell culture. During processing, silica powder is mixed with the serum and centrifuged, allowing lipids to bind to the silica pellet while purified serum remains in the supernatant. After treatment, cholesterol levels are reduced to below 10 mg/100 mL, creating an optimized environment for studies where lipid interference must be minimized. This specialized serum is widely used in lipid metabolism research, arteriosclerosis studies, and other cell culture applications requiring controlled lipid conditions. Also known as delipidated FBS, it supports reliable cell growth while reducing variability caused by lipid related signaling pathways.
