Invitrogen™ LV-MAX™ Lentiviral Packaging Mix
Description
The LV-MAX Lentiviral Packaging Mix is a single, optimized set of packaging plasmids, designed to streamline and enhance the production of lentiviral vectors. This mix contains a defined combination of three essential packaging plasmids: pLP1, pLP2, and pLP/VSVG, which together supply the necessary structural and replication proteins in trans when expressed in HEK293-derived Viral Production Cells. This third-generation packaging system offers enhanced biosafety, as the Rev gene is supplied on a separate plasmid, independent of other lentiviral genes, thereby significantly reducing the likelihood of recombination and producing replication-competent lentiviral particles.
Key features of the LV-MAX Lentiviral Packaging Mix
- Optimized formulation—combines three packaging plasmids (pLP1, pLP2, and pLP/VSVG) into a single mix, saving process development time by minimizing the need to optimize plasmid ratios
- High titer—achieves high titers of lentiviral vectors when used with the LV-MAX Lentiviral Production System
Applications
- Gene therapy—ideal for the production of lentiviral vectors for gene therapy research and development
- Cell therapy—supports the generation of lentiviral vectors for cell therapy applications, facilitating seamless transition from bench to clinic
- Research and development—provides a reliable and scalable solution for viral vector production in various research settings

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Yes, they can be used interchangeably.
The LV-MAX and CTS LV- MAX products have equivalent performance. In contrast to the research use only LV-MAX products, CTS LV-MAX products have an additional intended use for cell and gene therapy applications, and are complemented with a more robust regulatory support package to enable clinical therapeutic applications. This means that to the best of our ability, we keep our CTS product specifications and release requirements up-to-date in accordance with the latest regulatory guidance specific for this intended use.
Our LV-MAX products are intended for research use only while our CTS LV- MAX products are intended for research use or manufacture of cell, gene or tissue based products. Please refer to the individual products for further details on the intended use claim.
