Lyso-Tracker Red (CAS 231946-72-8) is a weakly basic fluorescent dye designed for labeling lysosomes in live cells. This cell-permeable molecule selectively accumulates within acidic lysosomal compartments due to protonation and subsequent entrapment in their low-pH environment. Unlike conventional lysosomal dyes such as neutral red and acridine orange, Lyso-Tracker Red displays superior organelle specificity, requiring nanomolar concentrations to clearly visualize lysosomes. Supplied as a 1 mM stock solution in DMSO, this probe is utilized for live-cell imaging studies investigating lysosomal function and trafficking pathways.
