ILEX LIFE SCIENCES LLC Ilex Life Sciences Lysostaphin, E. coli Recombinant Protein, Bioactive, 5 mg

Supplier: ILEX LIFE SCIENCES LLC A426905

Bioactive Lysostaphin, E. coli Recombinant Protein is a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain with 26.92 kDa molecular mass and 97.5% purity. Bioactivity: Assessed by the decrease in turbidity of a suspension of heat-killed Staphylococcus aureus at pH-8, 30°C. Lysostaphin is a zinc enzyme thus EDTA is an inhibitory factor. Please refer to CoA for specific activity of each lot. Formulation: Sterile filtered, lyophilized with no additives. Summary: Lysostaphin, an endopeptidase specific for the cell wall peptidoglycan of staphylococci, is a potent anti-staphylococcal agent. Because it lyses staphylococci efficiently, it is widely used to prepare staphylococcal DNA or other cellular components for genetic and biochemical studies and to prepare protoplasts for transformation. Preparation and analysis of bacterial DNA is used by microbiologists in epidemiological studies aimed at tracing sources of infection or bacterial contamination. Synonyms: EC 3.4.24.75, Glycyl-glycine endopeptidase.
