The 1D11 monoclonal antibody reacts with human NKG2D (CD314), a type II transmembrane lectin-like glycoprotein. Expressed on NK cells, NKT cells, CD8 T cells, γ/δ T cells, and macrophages, NKG2D is implicated in anti-tumor surveillance, immune response against viral infection, and diabetes progression. Studies show 1D11 blocks NKG2D binding to ligands or stimulates NKG2D-positive cells.
