The BVD6-24G2 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse IL-4, a multifunctional 14 kDa cytokine primarily expressed by activated Th2 cells and NK cells. It signals through the IL-4R, stimulating B and T lymphocyte proliferation and B cell differentiation into plasma cells. This induces B cell class switching to IgE and up-regulates MHC class II production. The antibody also decreases production of Th1 cells, macrophages, IFN, and dendritic cell IL-12. Note that the BVD6-24G2 antibody does not neutralize natural or recombinant IL-4 bioactivity.
